Quaint marine villages from just north of Duncan up to the nanaimo harbour

From the quaint seaside village of Maple Bay, you may be surprised by the number of interesting restaurants, pubs, and interesting foodie finds on the way to Nanaimo. From farmers’ markets serving Filipino Chow Mein and Ice Cream shops accessible by dingy, to marina-side food trucks — always something new to explore around the next peninusla.

(2) Vesuvius Bay, Salt Spring

For many, Vesuvius Bay is simply one of three ferry docks on Salt Spring, providing easy access to that Island from Nanaimo and the Cowichan Valley. However, if you are looking for a spot for a cold drink and a snack on your way from Maple Bay, the Seaside Restaurant has been a fixture in Vesuvius since the 1940’s - first as a marine shop, and then as restaurant in the 1970’s. A great spot to try the local Salt Spring Ales.

(4) Telegraph Harbour, Thetis

Thetis Harbour is home to Telegraph Harbour Marina and Thetis Island Marina & Pub. It is also the perfect spot to visit on Saturday mornings during the summer to get fresh produce, Marilyn’s noodles and home-baked pies at the Howling Wolf market.
